Arroyo Grande Community Hospital (AGCH) proudly announces it remains fully accredited earning an unconditional gold seal of approval of compliance with the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations’ national standards for health-care quality and safety survey. The hospital earned the approval following a three-day on-site visit by a team of Joint Commission surveyors June 24 – 26, 2008. States AGCH President Rick Castro; “An unconditional Joint Commission Accreditation for our hospital demonstrates our continued commitment to patient safety and quality care. We think of accreditation as confirmation of maintaining clinical excellence.”

AGCH Director of Risk Management and Regulatory Compliance, Keith Bradkowski, RN, along with Tauny Sexton, RN, AGCH Quality Manager and Chief Nursing Officer, Villa Infanto, RN, work closely with employees and medical staff to ensure AGCH is always ready for clinical excellence regardless whether or not a survey is being conducted in the hospital. As in the past, the Joint Commission surveys hospitals every three years, however surveys are now unannounced. The Joint Commission team begins a survey 30 minutes after contacting a hospital. “Maintaining a constant state of readiness achieves the ultimate goal of accreditation which is improvement of the safety and care of patients,” says Infanto. “I can’t thank staff members enough for the great work they do each and every day at our hospital.”

Bradkowski believes AGCH staff members respect each other and work together everyday towards reaching the same goal; providing the best possible care for every patient. “The key outcome of this strategy is to build into a hospital’s existing culture, that maintaining high quality care is a continuously on-going process,” says Bradkowski.
