Arroyo Grande Community Hospital (AGCH) is pleased to offer four free health education opportunities for seniors during the month of August. These community outreach offerings are a part of the hospital’s community benefits program. All of the classes are free and require reservations.

Three classes will be held in the AGCH Annex Main Conference Room. The first opportunity will be another in our series for free Senior Healthy Luncheons on Tuesday, August 10, 2010. The guest speaker will be Napoleon Ruiz, of HICAP who will offer a “Medicare Update”. The luncheon is from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm.

The second class, on Wednesday, August 18, 2010, will be an opportunity for seniors to learn about “Eye Care”. It will be led by Ahmad Amir, MD, an Ophthalmologist from Pacific Eye Care. The third class about the new POLST (Physicians Orders for Life Sustaining Treatment) plan will educate participants about the importance of an advanced health care directive. It is being offered on Tuesday, August 24, 2010 with AGCH Palliative Care Manager, Pam Merica, RN. This class will be offered from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm.

A fourth health education class on Monday, August 23, 2010 will be held at a different location, the Exploration Station at 867 Ramona in Grover Beach from 12:00 pm to 1:30 pm.
