“Day of the Child” Celebration

“Day of the Child” Celebration is Sunday, May 3, 2009

Arroyo Grande Community Hospital will promote Payment Assistance Program and St. Patrick’s Church Health Fair on May 17th at “Day of Child”.

Arroyo Grande Community Hospital (AGCH), the South County Youth Coalition and the San Luis Obispo County Public Health Drug and Alcohol Services together are proud to sponsor the annual “Day of the Child” on Sunday, May 3, 2009 at the Oceano Community Center located at 1425 19th Street in Oceano. The free event from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm will be a fun filled afternoon with games and prizes for children and their families who live in the Oceano area. All who attend will receive free health education and information about community service programs.

As a member of Catholic Healthcare West (CHW), it is a firm belief at Arroyo Grande Community Hospital that no one should delay seeking needed medical care because they lack insurance. This strong belief has resulted in a special system-wide campaign at all CHW hospitals to offer assistance to patients in applying for public health coverage programs. At the AGCH booth, bi-lingual Payment Assistance pamphlets will be distributed explaining available state and county health insurance assistance programs.

Arroyo Grande Community Hospital will also hand out fliers during “Day of the Child” about a free Health Fair the hospital and other nonprofit health care agencies will offer on Sunday, May 17, 2009 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church located at 501 Fair Oaks Avenue in Arroyo Grande. That Health Fair will offer free screenings for blood pressure, glucose, cholesterol and more. Along with AGCH, participating organizations include Community Health Centers of the Central Coast, San Luis Obispo County Economic Opportunity Commission, Public Heath and Social Services, Lucia Mar Unified School District, and South County Youth Coalition.
