General Surgery
Arroyo Grande Community Hospital (AGCH) has three operative units available for general surgery. Arroyo Grande's general surgeons and supporting staff have expertise in general surgery including:
- Vascular Chest
- Gall Bladder
- Appendicitis
- Hernias
- Chronic Heartburn
The increasing use of state of the art procedures such as ceramic orthopedic implants and leading edge laparoscopy techniques makes the Surgical Unit at AGCH the most advanced in San Luis Obispo County. Some of the more common surgical procedures are computer-assisted total joint replacements and all other orthopedic procedures. AGCH has the latest camera equipment to do laparoscopic, arthroscopic, and cystoscopic procedures. The Surgical Unit at AGCH also performs general and most vascular procedures and laser procedures for the prostate. Podiatry surgeries and gynecological procedures including hysteroscopies are also performed at AGCH. Colonoscopies, upper endoscopies, and bronchoscopies are performed in the AGCH GI lab.
Special expertise in breast cancer surgery is available, including less invasive breast biopsy techniques, lumpectomy and/or mastectomy with sentinel node biopsy and breast conservation procedures.
